A sea of black, yellow, and red decorated the streets of Berne yesterday afternoon. Around 20,000 fans – including some confused tourists – reportedly celebrated SC Bern’s second championship title in a row and the 15th title in club history with a parade through the city.

{sitelinkxoff}The parade was led by the SCB’s coach bus, followed by a car with Kari Jalonen, the coaching staff, and the Championship trophy, and a second one with the rest of the staff, including equipment manager Fräne Kehrli. Last but not least, the entire squad of SC Bern made their way to the Bundesplatz on a “Party Mobil”.

The celebrations found their culmination on the Bundesplatz as each member of the team was introduced on stage and had to say a few words. While import backup goaltender Michael Garnett made the entire Bundesplatz sit down, head coach Kari Jalonen, looking at the blue skies over Bern, told the crowd that the "sun always shines on the winners". Later on, the coach also prompted youngster Tim Dubois to reveal to the fans that he had, in fact, been “Kari Jalonen’s scout throughout the playoffs”.

A special moment was then given to Marc Reichert, David Jobin, and captain Martin Plüss. Reichert, who started his NLA career with SC Bern in 1996, and Jobin, who played 19 years for the Bears, both have decided to end their careers. What the future of Plüss will hold remains to be seen. He was the last to address the crowd and after thanking the team and the fans, he closed with: “Ihr send alles geili Sieche.”
