The 28-year-old forward's contract would have originally have expired at the end of the 2017-18 season. With his early three-year extension, he will thus remain a Tiger until 2021.

Berger joined the SCL Tigers last summer after having spent almost his entire career with SC Bern. In 47 games for the Tigers this past season, Berger, who served as assistant captain of the team, recorded ten goals and eight assists.
