After the approval of the electorate of Zurich, five objections have been raised against the project of the ZSC Lions' new arena in Altstetten, the Aargauer Zeitung reports. One from the neighbours in Schlieren.

"The way the traffic concept around the new arena presents itself today, it cannot be realised from our perspective," Schlieren's city counciller Markus Bärtschinger says in an interview with the Aargauer Zeitung. His concerns: too few parking spaces at the arena. Most of the parking alternatives are on Schlieremer ground, but no inquiry about those space have reached the City of Schlieren, who is in charge of them, yet.

"Many of these suggested parking lots have no bus or tram station nearby - this is very inconvenient for the hockey fans," Bärtschinger adds. "The City Council of Schlieren believes that the traffic in Schlieren will be considerably impaired with the current traffic concept, traffic jams are inevitable." If the City of Zurich does not improve the situation, it seems highly likely that Schlieren will raise an official objection to the project.
