At the end of last year, the 38-year-old left EHC Kloten during his ninth season with the club to join the KHL's Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Now, Santala returns to Kloten on a one-year deal. "I'm very thankful that EHC Kloten always wanted the best for me and my family and that we can return to this great organisation and to our second home," Santala says in a press release.
With the signing of the Finnish forward, EHC Kloten's team for the upcoming season is complete. The 38-year-old fills the only remaining spot on the center position. A signing of Martin Plüss is, thus, off the table; the club will play with three import players this season.
