Out of contract with his former team HC Fribourg-Gottéron, the 27-year-old trained on his own this summer. "I also continued to treat my inner ear problem, it is much better now," Loichat says in an interview with L'Express-L'Impartial. "But the professor from Neuchâtel who takes care of me strongly advised me not to resume hockey." An advice, Loichat decided to take.

His last game Loichat played on November 20, 2016 for his youth team HC La Chaux-de-Fonds against the GCK Lions. In the National League A, he suited up for HC Ambrì-Piotta, SC Bern, and HC Fribourg-Gottéron. In 172 NLA-games, he put up a total of 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists).
