According to the Journal du Jura (relayed by SwissHabs), Dan Weisskopf has not accepted EHC Biel's offer for a short-term contract. Silas Matthys will return to North America.

Weisskopf (photo) joined the Seelanders in mid-August as injury replacement for Cédric Hächler. Since their defensive core is still not at full strength, Biel has apparently offered the defenseman a contract until the end of September. An offer which Weisskopf did not accept.

The same newspaper had reported in August that the 27-year-old might also have a chance to sign with Genève-Servette HC. However, Chris McSorley will only decide after the pre-season games whether they need another defenseman. Weisskopf is currently practicing with the Grenats, as Christian Maillard (Tribune de Genève) reports.

As for Silas Matthys, the 25-year-old Swiss goaltender will return to North America. The netminder was in a tryout with EHC Biel since the beginning of August.
