"We don't want to take any risks and prepare the two players in the best possible way for the National League playoffs," EVZ's team manager Reto Kläy explains. "The National League has priority at this stage of the Championship, and should Tobias Stephan or a foreigner be unable to play, we want them to be ready and eligible to play."

According to regulations, players at the age of 23 or older are only allowed to join the respective National League team once their Swiss League team is eliminated from the playoffs. Holden, 40, appeared in 18 games for EV Zug (five points) and 31 games for the Academy (28 points) this season, while Aeschlimann suited up in 21 Swiss League and two National League games. The 23-year-old will be Tobias Stephan's backup for the upcoming playoffs.

EV Zug's farmteam in the Swiss League will play regular season winner SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers in the playoff quarterfinal series, which are set to start on Sunday this week.
