However, the Swiss League club from the north-eastern part of Switzerland is financially sound, according to HCT's president Hansjörg Stahel: "We don't have one single Franc in debt." In fact, the club's net loss resulted only due to depreciation, including the 'Thurgauer Dörfli' next to their home ground, the Güttingersreuti.

Even though the team played their best regular season in 14 years, it was not enough to reach the playoff semifinals. Nevertheless, the club managed to achieve most of their goals, as Hafen tells the Thurgauer Zeitung: "We had about 18 percent more spectators, we have significantly improved the catering, and - which is very important to me - the club has broader base."

Regarding the upcoming 2018-19 season, HC Thurgau aims to reach at least the playoff semifinals and the second round of the Swiss Ice Hockey Cup with a budget of about CHF 3.3 million. On another note, the shareholders approved a capital increase of CHF 280,000.-, a precaution to buy the 'Inline Drom', which the club has been renting for their Thurgauer Dörfli.
