Chiquet, 20, was with Gottéron's National League team for most of the last two seasons after joining the organization in 2013. He did his first steps in hockey with HC Ajoie.
"Nelson fits our young team very well. His experience in the National League will help him take over an important role with us", Lions-team manager Patrick Hager comments.
The forward played 73 games with Fribourg, recording two goals and six assists. He also played seven games for the HCB Ticino Rockets last season, assisting on three goals. From 2012 to 2015, Chiquet suited up 29 times for different Swiss junior national teams.
