EHC Winterthur

Defenceman Silvio Schmutz and forward Luca Homberger have both signed extensions for one season with EHC Winterthur.

22-year-old Schmutz joined the team last summer after a two-year absence from the ice due to an injury. Before the break, he played for various junior teams. His career started with the Pikes Oberthurgau, he also suited up for HC Thurgau, the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, EV Zug and HC Davos. For the latter, the defenceman also made his first appearances in the National League, suiting up eight times during the 2015-16 season.

Homberger is in his fifth year with EHC Winterthur, although he has also played for them while under contract with EHC Kloten for parts of one season. He joined the team in 2013, when they were not yet playing in the Swiss League / National League B. Before Winterthur, he suited up for SC Herisau and EHC Uzwil. The 27-year-old has recently returned from a groin injury, which limited his appearances to only nine games so far this season.
