In light of the recent news about Philip Wüthrich continuing his stay with SC Langenthal, Marco Mathis will not suit up for the team anymore next season. As desktopstories.ch writes, the netminder was told by the club that he is not in their plans for the future any longer.

The 29-year-old would have liked to remain with Langenthal and mentions his disappointment. "I have always felt comfortable here. But that is the business."

Mathis has been under contract with Langenthal for seven years, since 2012. His first appearance for them was the season before that, when playing for SCL on loan from EHC Aarau. He started his career in the system of HC Davos.

This season so far, he has played eight games, posting a .884 save percentage and averaging 3.62 goals against.
