The 30-year-old will play for EHC Frauenfeld next season. In his honor, EHC Winterthur retires Oehninger's number 29.

Remo Oehninger leaves Winterthur in direction of Frauenfeld.

Remo Oehninger has played for Winterthur since 2001, when he suited up for their Mini Top team. As of the 2005-06 season, he was part of EHCW's first team and made his debut in the first league one year later. In 2015, he helped the team to get promoted to the National League B, which is nowadays called Swiss League.

As a consequence, EHC Winterthur has signed the 19-year-old goalie Justin Gianola to back up Tim Guggisberg, 21, next season. Gianola is a homegrown talent, who made his debut for EHCW in the Swiss League in the 2016-17 season. So far, Gianola has been the team's third goaltender.

In respect to their goaltenders, the club has also signed former netminder Matthias Schoder as an addition to their coaching staff. The former goalie of the ZSC Lions, SCL Tigers, SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, and HC Ambrì-Piotta will be their new goalie coach.
