In a post on Instagram (relayed by photohockey.ch), David Stämpfli has announced his retirement from professional hockey. As last part of his career, he was able to celebrate a Swiss League title and promotion with EHC Kloten.

Stämpfli made his first steps in men's hockey during the 2005-06 season with the Pikes Oberthurgau in the second division of the Regio League. His debut in the Swiss League came in 2008 as a member of the Swiss U20 national selection as well as EHC Visp.

In total, the defender made 603 games for various teams in the Swiss League plus 23 in the National League, most of them with EV Zug.

As he writes in his post, Stämpfli has been working in event organizing since June.
