Swiss League

The 42-year-old defenseman retires as a player but stays with HC Sierre as an assistant coach.

After 24 seasons as a professional hockey player, the last three of which in Sierre, Goran Bezina has finally decided to hang up his skates. He will, however, continue working for HC Sierre by assisting head coach Yves Sarault behind the bench. Bezina will mainly work with the defensemen of the Valaisans.

Over the course of his career, the defender suited up 877 times in the National League, mainly for Genève-Servette HC, which he captained for ten seasons. To that number, Bezina adds 143 games in the Swiss League and appearances in the KHL (Medvescak Zagreb), AHL (Springfield Falcons), and even three games in the NHL (Phoenix Coyotes).

With the Swiss national team, Bezina participated in eleven editions of the World Championship and in the 2006 Olympic Games. Among his achievements, he can also boast of two Spengler Cups.
