Swiss League

The 26-year-old Canadian-Finnish forward and the Swiss League club have agreed on a contract through to the 2023-24 season.

Virtanen was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and played almost six seasons with them (103 points), before the team placed him on leave in 2021 following allegations of sexual assault against him. Last July, a jury found him not guilty.

The right winger, who is known for his skating qualities, most recently tried his luck as free agent in a try-out with the Edmonton Oilers. Last season, he suited up for KHL's Spartak Moskva, for which he managed to put up nine goals and seven assists in 36 games.
