With the signing of Matt Fonteyne, EHC Winterthur has filled the first of the two slots destined to import players. Fonteyne arrives in Switzerland from the University of Alberta, where he spent the last three years. Prior to that, Fonteyne played one season in the AHL with the San Jose Barracuda.

EHCW's team manager Christian Weber is looking forward to the new acquisition: "Matt is versatile. Thanks to his skating qualities, he fits very well in the Swiss League. He is a good playmaker and face-off player."
