The 23-year-old defenseman is a right shot, one of the criteria which convinced the Lakers to sign him. Gähler has been with Kloten's organisation since the 2009-10 season and has played 29 games for the first team, scoring one goal and one assist.
This season, the defenseman has played in 16 games for Kloten and in 23 games for EHC Winterthur, Kloten's partner team. For Winterthur, he has put up two goals and 13 assists this season thus far.
