EHC Kloten recently announced that they Melvin Nyffeler will join the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers on loan. Should Kloten not extend Nyffeler's contract by the end of January, the Lakers will sign him for the rest of the season.

Team Manager Roger Maier, reports Die Südostschweiz, assumes that Kloten will not extend Nyffeler's deal unless Martin Gerber or Luca Boltshauser sustain an injury. Should the 22-year-old indeed be free to sign with the Lakers as of the end of January, Maier would sign him for the rest of the season - and maybe even beyond.

As for Janick Schwendener, the 24-year-old netminder was not forced to join Hockey Thurgau and was looking to get some more games in. "Thurgau wanted Schwendener," says Maier and adds that the Lakers will play these playoffs with three netminders if Thurgau will not qualify for the postseason.

Furthermore, Thomas Büsser, who has signed a contract with the Lakers for the upcoming season, will already join the NLB team in the postseason if EHC Winterthur will not be able to clinch a playoff spot.
