As Hockey Thurgau's president Hansjörg Stahel tells the Thurgauer Zeitung, they are in discussions about a contract extension with their head coach Stefan Mair.

"He is doing a great job and is the right coach for us," Stahel says but has to add that a new contract has not yet been signed: "No, we're still in discussions." If Hockey Thurgau will end the regular season in or out of the playoff spots, however, will not play a role in this matter, Stahel says.

Already in September, Mair stated that his job in the Thurgau is not an easy one as he is not happy with the partnership with HC Davos. President Stahel understands him very well: "We were hoping for more support from HCD. We expected to get five players on a regular basis, in the end there were only three - and sometimes even fewer."

Out of these first experiences with the partnership, Stahel only sees one solution for the future: "We have to become more independent," he says. "Our own National League B roster has to grow again."
