Tim Stapleton returns to Switzerland from the Kontinental Hockey League, where he played for Spartak Moskva this past season. The 34-year-old is happy about his return: "After two rather disappointing seasons I'm highly motivated," he says in a press release. "The challenge in Olten is very appealing."

In Switzerland, Stapleton already suited up for EHC Biel and HC Lugano in the 2015-16 season. With Olten, he signed a one-year contract with the option for the club to extend his stint for another year.

Moreover, EHC Olten also informs that they have dissolved the contract with their captain Stefan Hürlimann. Although Hürlimann's contract would have lasted for another season, the two parties mutually agreed to part ways. The reason for the 32-year-old's departure is that he did not play a role in the plans of head coach Bengt-Åke Gustafsson.
