There are several new faces in EHC Olten's leadership. Only three were previously part of their Board of Directors, seven have been newly elected to the board, including the new president Marc Thommen. Thommen succeeds Benvenuto Salvodelli, who stepped down after 21 years with the club.

The club has set three main goals for the future, in addition to sporting success on the ice: They want the club to be financially healthy, they would like to extend their youth organisation, and they want to develop and improve the structures of the club.

In terms of finances, EHC Olten has a lot of work to do in the upcoming season. In the past season, they suffered a deficit of CHF 271,097.-. This is mainly due to the early out in the playoffs, but attendance also dropped during the regular season. By average, 3,426 spectators attended EHCO's home games - 251 fewer than in the 2015-16 season. Also during the playoffs attendance dropped by 411 spectators per game.
