According to the Zürichsee-Zeitung, the renovation of the Kunsteisbahn Küsnacht (KEK) will cost only CHF 12.75 million. This is considerably less than the initially projected CHF 20 million. The renovation is going to involve all parts of the building and the technical installations such as the cooling compressors that are responsible for the ice in the arena.

Rolf Langenegger, the GCK Lions' head of communications, confirmed to the Zürichsee-Zeitung, the Lions will invest an additional CHF 2.6 million in an extension of the arena that includes not only offices and locker rooms, but also infrastructure for off-ice shooting drills and a skills park.

The schedule for the renovation, however, is not yet known. Though, it is clear that Küsnacht's electorate will have to decide about the future of the KEK.
