After 14 seasons in Switzerlands two top leagues, the 32-year-old defenseman Roman Botta has decided to hang up his skates, Ticinonline reports.

Botta made his debut in the National League A for his youth team HC Lugano back in the 2003-04 season. Over the course of his professional career, the 32-year-old also suited up for EHC Chur, Lausanne HC, HC La-Chaux-de-Fonds, SC Langnau, HC Ambrì-Piotta, HC Sierre, and HC Fribourg-Gottéron.

For the past four seasons, Botta played for EHC Visp in the National League B (now: Swiss League). Last term, he put up 24 points (nine goals, 15 assists) in 44 games for them.
