According to Rufener, the 31-year-old netminder has been offered another one-year, one-way contract offer worth $700,000. Whether Berra will accept the offer and spend an additional season overseas is not yet clear. "It's a difficult decision," Rufener explains.

HC Fribourg-Gottéron initially signed Reto Berra to a three-year contract in April last year. However, just a few months later he accepted an offer from the Anaheim Ducks and made use of his out-clause for the NHL.

This term thus far, the Swiss goalie has appeared in four NHL games for the Ducks (.932 %SVS) as well as 16 games for their AHL-affiliate, the San Diego Gulls, posting a .919 save percentage.
