The 22-year-old forward signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Sharks in March 2017. He did, however, not suit up for the NHL team but played a couple of games for their AHL affiliate this as well as last season. He had always joined the San Jose Barracuda once the National League season had been over for him.
In a feature on nhl.com in mid-May, it was revealed that Rod will apparently return to play for Genève-Servette HC. However, before he had gone overseas, he told Le Matin that he was not sure if it had been his last game for the Grenats. It thus remains to be seen, where he will end up playing next season.
