The 28-year-old defender and free agent since July 1 is still looking for a new employer, after he suited up for the NHL's expansion team, the Vegas Golden Knights, this past season. According to his agent André Rufener, however, there are several teams interested in his client: "I'm confident that a new deal will soon be signed." A return to Europe, at this point in time, is not an option.

Shortly before hitting free agency, Rufener had claimed that the Golden Knights did not offer Sbisa a new contract. A claim which was denied by general manager Goerge McPhee a few days later. However, according to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Sbisa has meanwhile received an invitation to attend the training camp of a yet to be disclosed team.

In a total of 42 games with the Golden Knights this past season, Sbisa managed to put up two goals and 16 assists for 18 points. Overall, since his NHL debut in 2008, the Swiss-Italian has appeared in more than 520 NHL games with Philadelphia, Anaheim, Vancouver, and most recently Las Vegas, recording 110 points (19 goals, 91 assists).
