As anticipated by Sportsnet, Krueger will be Phil Housley's successor. "My heart has made this 'back to coaching' decision. All the pieces fit together on this opportunity," Krueger tells Pierre LeBrun (The Athletic/TSN).

First working as an assistant coach, Krueger became the Edmonton Oilers head coach in 2012. However, he only got one season under his belt and will now get the chance to prove himself once again as a head coach of an NHL team. A couple of weeks ago, Krueger was let go by Southampton FC after having served as their Chairman for over five years.
