Whereas 18 players had to leave the camp (12 were reassigned to the Islanders' AHL-affiliate in Bridgeport, 6 returned to their junior teams), Swiss defenseman Luca Sbisa has survived the first cut, which was to be expected beforehand.

The 29-year-old is currently with the Islanders on a professional tryout contract (PTO), which is valid until the end of their training camp at the latest. Sbisa was already part of the Islanders last season, but only suited up in nine games.
