Elliotte Friedman (Sportsnet) reported earlier today that due to some Canucks-players having an excellent training camp and cap space issues, Sven Bärtschi was expected to be assigned to Vancouver's AHL-affiliate, the Utica Comets.

This is now indeed the case. The 26-year-old will have to go through waivers, thus there is a chance he will be picked up by another NHL-team.

Bärtschi only suited up 26 times for the Canucks last season due to missing a lot of games with concussion-related issues. He recorded nine goals and five assists.
