The Edmonton Oilers will face the Vancouver Canucks. Gaëtan Haas made the Oilers' cut and will thus - in all likeliness - get to make his NHL debut tonight. Sven Bärtschi, on the other hand, will start his season with the Canucks' AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets.

The game between the Washington Capitals and St. Louis Blues will feature Jonas Siegenthaler who also survived the Caps' last cut. Tobias Geisser will suit up for the Hershey Bears. Timo Meier and his San Jose Sharks will face the Vegas Golden Knights today.

The other eight players who will start their season in the NHL are Roman Josi (Nashville Predators), Yannick Weber (Nashville Predators), Dean Kukan (Columbus Blue Jackets), Mirco Müller (New Jersey Devils), Nico Hischier (New Jersey Devils), Nino Niederreiter (Carolina Hurricanes), Kevin Fiala (Minnesota Wild) and Denis Malgin (Florida Panthers).

Former HC Lugano goaltender Elvis Merzlikins and former HC Ambrì-Piotta forward Dominik Kubalìk also made their respective roster and will start the season in the NHL.
