According to Pierre LeBrun (The Athletic), the New Jersey Devils and Nico Hischier's camp have been in preliminary talks about the forward's contract. Apparently, they are still "quite early in the process" but some talks have been taking place.
This season, several RFAs were not signed at the start of training camp. Some negotiated with their respective teams until late September or even early October before signing their new deals. It remains to be seen how GMs will fare with next season's RFA class.
Nico Hischier is currently in his third NHL season. Last season, he recorded 17 goals and 30 assists in 69 games. He is currently one point short of reaching the 100 points threshold in his NHL career.
