The 28-year-old forward's contract with the Edmonton Oilers will expire at the end of the current season.

Gaëtan Haas also has a valid contract with SC Bern until the end of the 2020-21 season. As he tells the Bieler Tagblatt, they want to know whether he will play for them next season: "I was given a deadline for an answer, which is difficult to meet due to the coronavirus pandemic."

The NHL contracts usually do not get discussed before the end of the season, which makes it more difficult for Haas. The NHL has not canceled its season and the chance is thus there that they might start it up again in the summer.

Haas also talks about the changes to his game he had to make in order to secure himself a spot in the lineup. While he does not regret the concessions he had to make, he still is not sure if he wants to play another season like this. While nothing is certain yet, he knows one thing: "No matter what comes, an attractive job awaits for me in the coming season in any case."
