Nico Hischier of the New Jersey Devils has been announced as a finalist for the Selke Frank J. Selke Trophy. It is annually awarded "to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game". The Devils' captain has earned his spot as one of the final three players up for the award thanks to his strong play on both ends of the ice.

The other two nominees are Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins' Patrice Bergeron. While Marner and Hischier are first-time finalists, Bergeron is a regular. It is his twelfth straight nomination, he has won the trophy five times.

Jack Hughes, Hischier's teammate in New Jersey, has also been nominated for a trophy - in his case the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, awarded "to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.”
