National Hockey League

Denis Malgin is about to make his National Hockey League debut on Thursday night. According to the Miami Herald, the Florida Panthers will call on the 19-year-old forward for the season opener against the Devils.

Due to Huberdeau's and Bjugstad's injury-caused absences, but also a very convincing pre-season preformance (six goals in three games of the prospect tournament), Malgin is set to take the center spot on the Panthers' third line for Thursday night.

"In the beginning of the summer, I didn't expect to be here in this position right now," Malgin tells the Miami Herald. "I'm very excited, going to keep doing what I do. I'm really feeling more comfortable with these guys. It's nice here."

Grown up and formed within the ZSC Lions' organization, the Swiss-Russian forward was picked as 102nd overall in the 2015 NHL Entry draft and signed to an entry-level contract by the Florida Panthers in July this year.

Malgin made his National League A debut with the ZSC Lions during the 2014-15 season. Since then, the youngster had appeared in 82 games for them, scoring eleven goals and 20 assists.
