The rumors surrounding Joël Vermin and a potential return to SC Bern were stopped this season before they even properly started. His agent Georges Müller stresses that his clients focus lies on the NHL.

It seems like his agent wanted to get ahead of potential new rumors on Friday night by stating that Vermin would definitely not return to the Bears as of the 2017-18 season. This, however, does not stop the Berner Zeitung from writing that Vermin will likely return to Switzerland if he is not able to sign a one-way contract with an NHL team. His speculated destination? Lausanne HC.

Vermin is a product of SC Bern's organisation and played all of his 130 NLA games (41 goals, 60 assists) for the Bears. While he left SCB in 2014 and has since then played for the Tampa Bay Lightning or their AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch, a potential return to SC Bern was brought up in news reports every offseason.

The 24-year-old has had a good start to the 2016-17 season and earned himself a call up to the Bolts on Thursday. In his first NHL game of the season, he managed to score two assists. His contract with Tampa expires at the end of the season.
