The Sabres fired their head coach Dan Bylsma and general manager Tim Murray yesterday. Now, they are – of course - looking for replacements for both of them.
Apparently, Mike Gillis is one of the candidates the Sabres are interested in. The 58-year-old Canadian is currently a member of Genève-Servette HC’s board of directors and has been asked by president Hugh Quennec to invest into the club by buying some of its shares.
His role within the organisation recently changed as he now oversees the work of general manager Chris McSorley as well as the work of Lorne Henning. Gillis was fired as general manager by the Vancouver Canucks in 2014 after having led the team for almost six seasons.
