National Hockey League

Nico Hischier is not the only Swiss player to be drafted in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. EV Zug’s defenseman Tobias Geisser was selected 120th overall by the Washington Capitals on Saturday.

Geisser recently signed a new two-year contract with EV Zug, keeping him with the Bulls until the end of the 2018-19 season. The 18-year-old defenseman, who captained the U18 national team last season and was also part of the U20 squad, put up one assist in 14 games for the National League team this past season.

However, he mostly suited up for EVZ Academy (Swiss League), scoring three goals and ten assists in 34 games. Geisser thus joins the same organisation as Jonas Siegenthaler (drafted 57th overall in 2015) and Damien Riat (selected 117th overall in 2016).
