The Journal de Montréal reported that the Montréal Canadiens have extended a contract-offer to Streit. But, the 40-year-old denies having received an offer.

The veteran defenseman said to the Blick, he would certainly like to return to his former team: "I had a wonderful time in Montréal. Accordingly, the club and the city are certainly very appealing to me," the 40-year-old explains. However, he is still waiting for an offer from the Canadiens: "I have not received a concrete offer, yet."

As the Montréal Canadiens are still in negotiations with their long-time Russian defenseman Andrei Markov, this is not too surprising. Streit would probably only become an option for the Canadiens if they can't reach agreement with their veteran 39-year-old defenseman.
