Hischier has been signed to the maximum contract for salary ($925,000 AAV) and performance bonuses. The Devils also announce that he will be able to wear number 13. He has worn 13 throughout his junior hockey career to honor the number worn by his brother, SC Bern forward Luca Hischier.

The 18-year-old forward was drafted first overall by the Devils in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and is currently taking part in New Jersey's development camp. Last season, Hischier recorded 38 goals and 48 assists in 57 games for the Halifax Mooseheads, leading all QMJHL rookies in points.
