Reto Suri himself denied the news when asked to comment by Blick: "The discussions are ongoing. But nothing is decided and nothing is signed yet."

About a month ago, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung reported that forward Reto Suri is supposedly no longer indispensable to EV Zug, due to a discrepancy between price and performance. The 29-year-old's former club SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers was mentioned as possibly interested in case of a promotion to the National League. Zug's team manager Reto Kläy, however, denied these rumors. In Zug, Suri would be in possession of a contract for the 2018-19 season.

This past season, the 29-year-old forward suited up in 49 games for EV Zug, in which he put up a total of 29 points (eleven goals, 18 assists). With 27 points (0.61 points/game) in the regular season, Suri was Zug's seventh-best scorer.
