According to the NZZ, Christian Wohlwend is considered to be the frontrunner for the future head coaching position in Davos.

Christian Wohlwend to be HCD's next head coach?
HC Davos

The 42-year-old head coach of the Swiss U20-national team has been connected to HC Davos ever since his friend and superior, Raeto Raffainer, SIHF's Director of National Teams, was named HCD's new team manager about one month ago. In the Landwassertal, he could be assisted by Tommy Albelin, the current assistant coach of the national team and the U20 national team.

"I have several options, but there is nothing signed yet. It's true that I would give up my current job should I receive an offer from the National League," Christian Wohlwend tells the Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

HCD's president Gaudenz Domenig does not want to confirm or deny any names: "No decision has been made so far. We've only decided that we are going to have a different setup. As of the 2019-20 season, our head coach will have two assistants. A one-man show like in the Arno Del Curto era will no longer exist."

In any case, according to the same source, both Christian Wohlwend and Tommy Albelin will be at Patrick Fischer's disposal as assistant coaches for the upcoming World Championship in Slovakia.

HC Davos is currently led by Latvian head coach Harijs Vītoliņš, who took over the duties from Arno del Curto in mid-December. Davos has three more games to play in the placement round and will then face Rapperswil in the playout final. Depending on the outcome of the best-of-7 series, they might also have to play in the League Qualification and against relegation.
