Spengler Cup

As Klaus Zaugg (Watson) writes, it would not be a surprise if a second Swiss team will play at the Spengler Cup next year.

Still according to Zaugg, HC Ambrì-Piotta could be in the pole position. "I've always told Filippo Lombardi (HCAP's president) that if Ambrì makes the playoffs, he could expect an invitation," HC Davos' president Gaudenz Domenig says to Zaugg. "As it looks now, that could be the case and I suppose he would accept an invitation."

So far, only three Swiss teams were able to win the Spengler Cup. Most recently, Genève-Servette HC celebrated back-to-back tournament victories in 2013 and 2014. Besides HC Davos also the Zürcher SC was able to win the tournament, way back in 1944. In 2015 and 2016 HC Lugano lost the final to Team Canada.
