Spengler Cup

Marc Gianola, president of the organizational committee, stresses that there will be no Spengler Cup without fans.

"I can't say if we'll be able to organize the tournament," Marc Gianola reveals in an interview with 20 Minuti. It is clear, however, that there is a deadline for the organizational committee to decide if they are going through with it: "We can wait until October at the latest, perhaps November. And so can the teams."

What is definitely not going to happen is a Spengler Cup in front of empty stands: "If we don't get the green light to welcome fans, there won't be a Spengler Cup," Gianola stresses. "A hockey party without supporters is unthinkable. (...) It wouldn't be a party." Also a postponement of the tournament is out of the question.
