Swiss National Team

Patrick Fischer has announced the roster for the tournament next week. It includes eleven silver medallists from last May.

In a week, on December 13 and 14, the Swiss national team will play at the Lucerne Cup. On the first day, they will face Austria. On the second day, the opponent will either be Russia or Slovakia, depending on the outcome of the games.

For the two matchups, head coach Patrick Fischer relies on a selection of 24 players, including two goaltenders, eight defensemen and 14 forwards.

Forwards (14): Andres Ambühl (HC Davos), Chris Baltisberger (ZSC Lions), Christoph Bertschy (Lausanne HC), Damien Brunner (EHC Biel-Bienne), Jason Fuchs (EHC Biel-Bienne), Gregory Hofmann (HC Lugano), Denis Hollenstein (ZSC Lions), Lino Martschini (EV Zug), Simon Moser (SC Bern), Thomas Rüfenacht (SC Bern), Reto Schäppi (ZSC Lions), Tristan Scherwey (SC Bern), Reto Suri (EV Zug), Joël Vermin (Lausanne HC).

"Besides national team veterans, the roster consists of players that, due to strong showings in the National League and at the Deutschland Cup in November, have received another chance to present themselves and recommend themselves for the national team", Fischer comments the call-ups. "Home tournaments are always particularly nice. I am looking forward to our two games in Lucerne", the head coach notes.
