Swiss National Team

While the club representatives do not think playing national team games is a wise move at the moment, Lars Weibel is not yet willing to give up.

National Team games yes or no?

"Of course, we are looking at the daily developments. The health of the players is our top priority," Lars Weibel, Director National Teams, tells Blick. "But, the rules of the BAG apply, the league is playing and we want to do everything we can in order to let the national teams play."

The representatives of the clubs discussed the subject yesterday during a phone conference and agreed that at the moment, national team games should not take place and that the focus needs to lay on safely conducting the championship.

Weibel, however, added that as of now, the Deutschland Cup will take place. As for the problem of mixing players from different teams together in the midst of a pandemic, Weibel says they understand the clubs objection to that and that they have thought about it. He then goes on to say that they have planned a mixed roster with "perspective players" from every team but as few as possible: "We will have bubble-like conditions." The national team committee will discuss the subject today.
