As the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation announced today, a committee consisting of five people (Peter Blomqvist, Hasse Andersson, Leif Boork, Malin Fransson, Lars Granqvist) have chosen Albelin to be the next member of the Swedish Hockey Hall of Fame.

The 52-year-old former defenseman played in over 1000 NHL games for the Québec Nordiques, the New Jersey Devils and the Calgary Flames, winning the Stanley Cup twice with the Devils. His induction ceremony will take place on April 27 before Sweden's preparation game against Russia.
