The 18-year-old was selected as the 33rd overall pick by the Generals in Thursday's CHL Import Draft. In Oshawa, Eggenberger will most likely meet Nico Gross, a fellow Swiss forward, who got picked by the New York Rangers in the NHL Entry Draft and will probably extend his stint in Oshawa for another season.
Shortly after the CHL Import Draft, Oshawa's general manager Roger Hunt said that he is going to work on convincing Eggenberger to join the Generals in the upcoming season.
Eggenberger made his debut for HC Davos in the National League in the 2015-16 season. Last season, the young forward appeared in 41 games for HCD, in which he recorded a total of six points (three goals).
