In exchange for Sopa, the Niagara IceDogs receive a 2nd and 8th round pick (2022) and a 3rd round pick (2023) for the OHL Priority Selection.

Kyen Sopa to join the Erie Otters

Apart from the 19-year-old forward, the Erie Otters also receive a 13th round selection in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. “This was a difficult move to make. Kyen has been the most impactful import pick we have ever had, both on and off the ice.” Said GM Joey Burke. “The reality is we are in a position where we need draft picks to solidify our future, and this deal helps to accomplish that.”

Sopa joined the Niagara IceDogs for the 2018-19 season. This season, he has already equalized the point total he had for the entire season last year (31 points) with still over twenty games to go in the regular season. Sopa was also part of Switzerland's World Junior team, recording one assist in five games.
