Today, the 26th annual Canadian Hockey League Import Draft took place in Toronto, Ontario. Just like last year, also this time a total of four Swiss players have been selected in the two-round draft.

Every year, each team of the CHL has the possibility to choose up to two players from outside North America and to add them to their roster. The Import Draft is seen as a way to raise the level of competition within North America's three major junior leagues (WHL, OHL, QMJHL). On the other hand, for the players who got selected and take the chance to play overseas, it can be a potential springboard into the NHL.

In the 2017 CHL Import Draft, following Swiss prospects have been selected:
- Gilian Kohler (F, EHC Biel) as 3rd overall by the Kootenay Ice
- Nico Gross (D, EV Zug) as 40th overall by the Oshawa Generals
- Justin Sigrist (F, GCK Lions) as 42nd overall by the Kamloops Blazers.
- Stephane Patry (F, Genève-Servette HC) as 57th overall by the Erie Otters

CHL (Canadian Hockey League) is the parent organization that represents the three Canadian-based major junior leagues WHL (Western Hockey League), OHL (Ontarian Hockey League) and QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League).
