Swiss Ice Hockey

As Daniel Koch of the Federal Office of Public Health told SRF, the measures taken in Ticino might soon be applied to other cantons.

Will hold another press conference tomorrow: Federal Council Alain Berset.

"The rest of Switzerland will certainly do what is now happening in Ticino," Koch told SRF. Meaning: The measures that the canton of Ticino has introduced due to the spread of the Coronavirus might be extended to other cantons as well. A closure of cinemas, concert halls, fitness centers as well as, of course, hockey arenas thus seems only to be a matter of time.

"The wave has now reached Switzerland," Daniel Koch explains. It is now a question of protecting the most vulnerable groups, the elderly and the chronically ill: "For them, the virus is dangerous."

Whereas the Federal Council has set up another press conference for tomorrow, officials of the Swiss hockey clubs will have a telephone conference this morning and decide about the fate of the current championship. The most likely outcome: They will put an end to the season before the Federal Council does.
